Endo-Exo prostheses

Use of an endo-exo prosthesis

A large number of transfemoral and transtibial amputees can be optimally fitted with traditional prosthetic technology. However, some people have problems with traditional residual limb fitting, so they may not be able to wear a prosthesis every day.

The most common problems are variations in residual limb volume and skin irritation, which reduce wearing comfort. We offer those interested and affected the opportunity to learn about endo-exo fittings.

We would be happy to advise you on possible cost assumptions.

What does endo-exo prosthetics mean?

The words “endo” and “exo” come from the Greek and mean “inside” and “outside” respectively. With this technique, a force carrier is anchored in the bone and is discharged transcutaneously, i.e. through the skin, to which the conventional prosthetics can then be docked in an uncomplicated manner. This innovative method is used selectively in Germany. Thanks to our partnership with the Endo-Exo Competence Centre Rostock, we benefit from many years of experience. This competence centre is made up of the Rostock University Medical Centre, a certified clinic for endo-exo integration and our partner company, Orthopädie-Technik Scharpenberg.

Advantages of an endo-exo fitting

  • easier to put on and take off the prosthesis
  • More natural walking
  • significantly longer walking distance and duration of use possible
  • improved feeling for ground contact
  • improved movement control and range of motion
  • less soft tissue discomfort and socket problems as there is no prosthetic socket
