Femoral prostheses and their use
A transfemoral prosthesis is made when an amputation of the leg above the knee joint requires a transection of the femur. Compared to the transtibial prosthesis, the residual limb of transfemoral amputees often has more soft tissue. A suitable socket is indispensable here.
There are two different socket systems: The ischium encircling socket system and the transverse oval socket system. In order to make the right decision, we will be happy to advise you comprehensively.
We would be happy to advise you on possible cost assumptions.
A suitable knee for the femoral prosthesis
In the field of femoral prostheses, you always have to consider the right knee joint.
Development has made great leaps in this area in recent years. Especially with motorised knee joints, it is amazing what is possible nowadays.
An electric knee supports you in everyday activities such as going for a walk, standing up or climbing stairs. Some manufacturers now even install microprocessors, which allow the knee to “learn” your behaviour and thus provide you with even more support when walking.
