Compression stockings

This is how compression stockings are used

Compression socks are available in a wide variety of materials and colours. Thus, in addition to function, a chic, modern look to your taste is guaranteed.

Compression stockings can help with the following problems:

  • Varicose veins
  • Leg vein thrombosis and its consequences (also prevention)
  • Postthrombotic syndrome
  • Lymphoedema
  • Lipoedema
  • Venous and lymphatic diseases

We would be happy to advise you on possible cost assumptions.

This is how compression stockings work

Compression stockings enclose the leg from the outside and thus exert a certain pressure on the tissue and the veins. This pressure relieves the veins and lymph vessels by reducing the flow of fluid from the capillaries into the tissue. The venous vessels are compressed to a smaller diameter, allowing the defective venous valve to close again and function as a regurgitation valve. The external pressure also increases blood flow and promotes venous return to the heart.

What should be considered when dressing?

It is usually sufficient to put on compression stockings on the affected leg. In the morning, when the leg is least swollen, the compression stocking is put on. Putting on the stocking correctly requires some practice. The stocking should fit snugly at the end without wrinkles. The seams should run straight down the leg.

The following tips are helpful when putting them on:

  • Make sure the skin is dry
  • Take off bracelets and rings beforehand
  • Rubber gloves provide more grip on the stocking and protect it from fingernails
